We’re really fortunate to be located about 5 minute walk away from the Miyagawa-Cho geisha district. This is one of the five Hanamachi (Japanese geisha district) of Kyoto. It’s a couple of small streets featuring a number of Okiya (geisha houses) and Ochaya (teahouses). And whenever I have the opportunity, I try to go there, between 17:30 and 18:00, to admire the maiko and the geiko walk between their place of living to their place of working, and try to take pictures.
Today, I was very fortunate to capture this beautiful smile.
