Thank you very much again for choosing our Tofukuji Machiya for your stay in Kyoto. We hope you will enjoy the place and your stay in Kyoto.
Before anything, here is some important information you will need before your arrival in Kyoto.
First, about the check-in process. Following Japanese regulations, we are under the legal obligation to ask you for a copy or scan of the passport of all people in your party. We usually take care of this in an office next to Kyoto station. However, this office is located on the Northside of the Kyoto Station, and your house on the Southside, we prefer to ask you to provide us directly with this copy or information (to avoid the inconvenience for you of having to go to the office).
So, please, before your arrival, send us by email a scan of the first page of the passport of every person (with name, etc.) in your party. In addition, please download the Registration Form, fill up the requested information and email it to us.

Be sure to take care of this procedure at the latest three days before your arrival in Kyoto!
If you cannot do that for any reason, we’ll ask you to go to the office for the check-in procedure. Thank you for letting us know in advance so we can send you the necessary information. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
The Tofukuji Machiya features a numeric padlock with a code. We will send you the code to open the lock a few days before your arrival date.
Then you’ll find here “Map from Kyoto Station to Tofukuji Machiya” a map showing you the location of the Tofukuji Samurai Machiya and instructions on how to get there, either by train, by bus or by taxi (the cost should be about yen 1,000 from Kyoto station.)
Be sure to download this file as it contains the address of the Tofukuji Samurai Machiya as well as useful information on how to get there (text in Japanese for taxi drivers). You may want to print this file as it will come in handy when you’re in Kyoto.
